Scientists approached the creation of digital collective mind

A group of American neurobiologists was able to create a connection between the brains of three people, allowing them to share their thoughts during the game.

The functioning of the prototype of the collective mind network is based on the combination of electroencephalograms (EEG) to register electrical pulses indicating brain activity, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), in which neurons are stimulated using magnetic fields. Researchers called the new BrainNet system, which actually represents the first interpersonal non-invasive direct interface between human brains to jointly solve problems.

During the test, people together played a game like «Tetris.» Two of them saw the screen and performed «senders», and the third person received signals and decided whether to turn the figures. In the test, 5 different groups took part and in 81.25% of cases, their choice coincided. Scientists believe that this is a worthy result for the first sample technology and are already working on feedback mechanisms.

Although at the moment such a network can transmit only one bits of information at a time, but researchers are engaged in the amount of data.
